Project Description
Hello 1970s! This home, located in beautiful Point Loma, had great bones with vaulted wood ceilings and an Asian inspired feel. But to say the master suite was stuck in times gone by, is a little bit of an understatement. The bedroom had only a few pieces of mismatched furniture. Nightly, the blinking lights from the computers had to be covered with a sheet so that the couple could sleep. Its spacious bathroom came with challenges, including a lot of wasted floor space, dated wallpaper, no tub, and a number of windows to work around. The homeowners longed for a luxury steam shower and craved a soaking tub that would be “a destination.” This meant we would have to completely rework the space, and even merge two separate closets into one. The homeowners preferred a more neutral, natural palette with wood accents, and wanted the space to feel peaceful and minimalist. We selected porcelain flooring that resembles wood, and white frosted glass tile for her vanity wall and for the shower field tile. Glass tile with a subtle pattern accents the shower plumbing wall and his sink area. To take advantage of the expanse of natural light in the room, we moved the shower out of the water closet. The soaking tub is surrounded in rift cut walnut veneer and centered under the large window. To accommodate their desire for more drawer storage, we designed a custom sink base/dresser. Welcome to the new millennium!
