The last space in our Unused Space to Show Place series is this formal living room turned music room!  Our clients didn’t have a need for a formal living area, and this room was hardly ever used, so we repurposed the room around the family’s passions and hobbies.

Since the kids were in music lessons, they needed a place to practice at home.  To get this room jam-session ready, we brought in the family piano and placed the kids’ guitars by the fireplace.  In addition to being a music room, this room would be a space where our client’s daughter and friends could practice gymnastics.  This meant that seating had to be flexible; therefore, we made sure the ottoman was lightweight so it could be easily moved out of the way.  Meetings would also be held in this space to accommodate our client’s volunteer efforts.  To provide ample seating, we brought in a neutral sofa and an upholstered ottoman that would double as a seat.  This homeowner loves orange as much as we do so we added pops of color in the side chairs and rug!  Inspiration for the orange accent color was pulled in from the orange in the painting above the fireplace that they got from Hawaii.

A fresh coat of paint and accessories from Hold It Contemporary Home were the finishing touches on this room. This room is now transformed into a place they use all the time.  Let the jamming, cartwheeling, and brainstorming begin!
